Opportunities for studying with me
PhD Positions
If you're interested in machine learning, in particular AI and applications of probabilistic modelling and deep learning then please do feel free to contact me. You must have very strong technical abilities, with a proven track record of excellence in mathematics, equivalent to a first class mathematics degree from a top UK university. However, I'm currently quite full with students and the chance of being offered a PhD with me at the moment is low.
Please note that I don't do academic research in finance or topics directly related to finance. If you're looking for a machine learning project in finance, you may wish to contact someone from the UCL financial computing research group.
Please see my publications and the list of my current Students and their research interests to gain an understanding of possible research topics.
Internships
Whilst I'm grateful for student interest in working with me, I'm afraid that I'm no longer taking intern students. Please accept my apologies if you ask for an internship by email and don't get a response or I direct you to this page. I receive a large number of internship applications and am unable to respond to each one individually.
Short academic visits (non-UCL PhD students or non-UCL academics)
I'm happy to consider applications to work for some time with me, either as a visiting PhD student or academic.
Please first contact me to discuss a potential application. If we agree that visiting me might be a good idea, we will ask you to complete an application form. More information is here. I believe that UCL does not charge for short visits of up to 3 months; longer visits can incur charges -- you would need to research what any potential charges there may be.
MSc Projects (UCL students)
For current UCL MSc students that are interested in doing their project, the link to the projects page was given out at project presentation day. Please see MScThesisUCL for advice on writing your thesis and MScFAQ for some information about the students on the CSML MSc programme.
