GCVI Project Ideas for 2013-14

1. Psychotherapy for Social Phobia

We have an ongoing project in collaboration with Prof Chris Barker (UCL Psychology) on using Virtual Reality to help social phobia patients to build confidence. We have an existing application developed in Unity. I am looking for students who are interested in human-avatar interaction to work on making the interaction more realistic. This project is highly flexible: if you are interested in either the verbal or non-verbal side of human interaction, you would be an ideal candidate! This could also be a collaborative project with 2 students!

2. Social mimicry

Why do people mimic? Do you mimic more avatars that look smiliar to you or avatars that look attractive to you? Would you mimic more with a sad avatar or a happy avatar? If you are interested in answering any of these questions using Virtual Reality, please contact me!

This project is in collaboration with Dr Antonia Hamilton (UCL Cognitive Neuroscience).
