How to find us

UCLIC is part of UCL, in the centre of London, one of the world's great cities.

We are on the eighth floor of the Malet Place Engineering Building (MPEB) in Malet Place, just off Torrington Place on the main UCL campus. However, if you are a visitor to UCL you will need to enter via the Engineering Front Building: please see instructions below in the section Getting Here.

Maps

You can find the Malet Place Engineering Building on the maps of the UCL campus and of UCL within central London (Malet Place is at the southern end). Or you can find us on Google Maps.

Advanced options

UCLIC is a few minutes walk from several underground stations (tube map):

The nearest mainline stations are Euston (5 min walk) and King's Cross St Pancras (20 min walk or one stop on the underground to Euston Square).

If you are a visitor to UCL, you have to reach UCLIC through the Engineering Front Building, a new yellow-orange coloured building opposite Waterstones on Torrington Place. The entrance is just a tiny way up Malet Place and then immediately on your left. The security people there will let you in, and can give you directions as to how to get to UCLIC. Briefly, once you are through the security barriers, turn right and you will come to some lifts. (You are now in the Roberts Building.) Take the lift to anywhere from the 2nd to the 7th floor. (Or you can save a little time by continuing past the lifts and walking up the stairs to the 2nd floor.) On exiting the lift, turn right, and continue through doors, over a linking bridge, and through more doors to the lobby of the MPEB (Malet Place Engineering Building). From there take the lift to the 8th floor, and UCLIC is ahead and to your left as you leave the lift. You will need to use the telephone by the door to gain admittance.

UCL and Bloomsbury

UCL is the largest and oldest college of the federal University of London. Founded in 1826, it was the first to admit students regardless of race, class or religion, and was the first to admit women on equal terms with men. UCL is an international college with over 17000 students, and an enormous range of student and staff societies. UCL has a library of over 1,500,000 books. We are located in the heart of Bloomsbury, a short walk from national resources like the British Library (with 150 million items), the British Museum, and outstanding art galleries like the Tate Modern, the Tate, and the National Gallery.

Tottenham Court Road, a few minute's walk from UCLIC, is London's main centre for gadget shopping – an endless source of wonder about HCI issues!
