A bad ID-ea

What is this UK plc to which you refer, and for which you claim ID cards will represent a huge step forward (Realism reaches ID card plan, 13 July, Letters, 20 July)?
I agree with you in the sense that ID cards will be a huge step towards the day when the UK ceases to be a free country and becomes a corporation exercising total control ever the carbon-based life form resident.
I will not be one of them.
